The contenders for the general classification dynamited the final of the third stage in the Tour of Andalucia (2.Pro, 16-20/02) this Friday between Lucena and Otura in the province of Granada. The World Team participated all day in the chase behind the breakaway of five riders in order to defend the chances of Biniam Girmay in a group sprint. Once the breakaway was caught and the four categorized climbs were behind the back, the favorites accelerated on a non-categorized climb 10 kilometer before the intermediate sprint in Ventas de Huelma, 23 kilometer before the finish.
Pozzovivo was present in a leading group of thirty riders with the yellow jersey Covi and with a chance of battling for the win in a sprint. But with 2.3 kilometer to go, two riders from Ineos Grenadiers missed a corner and took the Italian down. Luckily he crashed without much harm and as the incident happened in the final 3 kilometer he was attributed the same time as the group.
