Hungarian Championships

This week, 29 riders of the team will participate in the races for the national titles and this in eleven different countries. The time trial events are held from Tuesday to Friday, with the road races taking place from Friday to Sunday.

One month after his Grand Tour debut in the heart of his native city Budapest, Barnabás Peák will be at the start of the Hungarian championships. This Wednesday, at 13h19, the double time trial champion (2018, 2020) will chase a third title on a parcours of 38 kilometer on the highroad of Debrecen, in the south of the country. In the road race on Friday he has an opportunity to win a second title in Pannonhalma, west of the capital. Nine laps of 16.5 kilometer and three and a half laps of 5.4 kilometer total to a distance of 166.1 kilometer.

« Since 2016, I won all my junior and professional titles in the pair-numbered years and I hope to continue this trend this week. The parcours of both disciplines suit me and I have to admit that my great ambition leads to a certain tension. I'm the only one who managed to break the 50kph barrier on the parcours of the time trial in the past and I hope to repeat this performance. After the Giro I trained in Girona and Budapest. It was perfect to do a lot of qualitative training on the time trial bike. I'm happy that the road race is organized in the hilly northwest of the country, because a selective parcours will make it easier to rival with the numerical superiority of the Hungarian teams. »
