Danny Van Poppel avoids a crash & finishes 7th

It is with almost the same line up as in this Paris-Bourges (1.1, 7/10) that Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert won Binche-Chimay-Binche two days ago. The riders under the direction of Hilaire Van der Schueren surrounding sprinter Danny Van Poppel, the winner of last Tuesday, perfectly accomplished their mission of controlling the peloton. First they chased an early breakaway, afterwards they had to neutralize many attacks in the hilly part of the race. The succession of breakaway attempts continued until the final hectometers, but in the end nobody managed to avoid a bunch sprint. Danny Van Poppel approached the sprint in a perfect position, but had to stop pedaling before starting to sprint again with 100 meter to go. Despite this incident, the Dutchman finished 7th behind winner Jordi Meeus.
