The course of the fourth and penultimate stage in the Tour of Andalucia (2.Pro, 16-20/02) between Cúllar Vega and Baza offered again different possibilities thanks to a very challenging beginning with two climbs of first category in the first 60 kilometer and rather rolling hills in the second race half. After a breakaway attempt of Taco van der Hoorn on the flanks of the Alto del Purche (6.8km at 9.%), the GC contenders took matters into their hands.
Fourteen riders joined forces to distance a peloton with among others yellow jersey Covi (UAE) and Domenico Pozzovivo and it was eventually Wout Poels (Bahrain) who took the stage victory. The Italian climber of Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux will start the final mountain stage between Huesa and Alto Chiclana de Segura (6.4km at 5.6%) in seventeenth place in the provisional classification.
