Kristoff grabs top 5 after superb lead-out

All seven riders of Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux reached the finale of stage 2 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, which this Thursday linked the municipalities of Bétera and Torrent, in a heavily skimmed peloton that eventually fought for the win.

The men lead by Aike Visbeek and Steven De Neef took charge of the final kilometers which led straight to an explosive finish, surrounding the designated sprinter Alexander Kristoff. A fantastic teamwork helped the Norwegian to a 5th place on the line, especially from his lead-out man Andrea Pasqualon who also took 8th place on this uphill finish.

In the final climb located around 15 km from the finish, my front wheel lost a bit of pressure because of a puncture but I did not notice until the final straight. Nevertheless we saw a super strong teamwork today, the guys were fantastic in helping me grab my first top 5 of the season. Especially Pasqua was impressive and this kind of finish suits him as well, when he launched it felt like he was going to cross the line first by himself. I still feel that I need a few more races to get to my best shape, but it's improving day by day.
