At only 23 years old, Louis Meintjes won the Settimana Coppi e Bartali, became African champion and concluded the Tour of Spain 2015 in tenth position, propelling him as leader of his team in the 2016 Tour de France. After three weeks of La Grande Boucle, the South African finished eighth, a feat he would repeat twelve months later. He also earned a place among the top ten in the Olympic Games race (7th in Rio, in 2016). Without a doubt, Meintjes’ talent can portend great things in stage races, and this is what he intends to demonstrate with Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux, with the Tour de France in his sights. In 2022, Meintjes finished 2nd atop Etna which offered him 3rd place overall on the Tour of Sicily.
