Tour de Romandie

5th place for Quinten Hermans on an explosive finish

Quinten Hermans confirmed his excellent condition after his second place in Liège-Bastogne-Liège by playing a major role on the explosive finish of the first stage of the Tour de Romandie (2.UWT) in Romont.

Earlier today, his teammate Julius Johansen represented the Belgian World Team in the front by joining an early breakaway of five riders. The 22 year old Danish rider rode in the lead of the race until the final 35 kilometer, despite a maximal advantage of only 3 minutes.

In the approach to the final, the nervosity caused a crash resulting in a split of the peloton with 15 kilometer to go. Quinten Hermans, who was protected by his teammates, stayed out of trouble and began the final uphill kilometer in a good position. He finished fifth in the slipstream of the winner.
